In returning to our series, we advance from John 3 to John 12. We also pause to consider Christ’s cross compared to a cross. While crucifixions accomplished nothing for us, the cross of Christ accomplished all we need for our salvation. Yet, unless we see our need as sinners, we’ll ignore the cross or dilute its significance (Barth, 33 AD).

“And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.”
