What People Are Saying
Tim, Malawi:
“I thank God Almighty for the passion and the desire he has put in you. We are benefiting a lot through your work. God bless you.”
Pastor Steve, The Democratic Republic of the Congo:
“Thank you for 1 Peter which has been an encouraging letter to us as it addresses very clearly the situation we are serving in our country where there is much suffering (kidnapping, shootings and many other violences). So, continue praying for us to God to restore peace and security in this war-torn region of eastern DRC .”
Kashindi, Tanzania:
“Praise the Lord! I would like to thank God who brought you here. . . . Also I would like to thank you. . . for your coming and for being with us for three weeks. I have enjoyed much. . . our lessons. Also through you I have learn[ed] many things such as sermon preparation, theology, and African church history. So I would like to request you to pray for me always so as I may stand firm in. . . the Lord our God.Sir, I have nothing to give you, but God will bless you with your family for everything you do. Greet your family, and your congregation, in the name of Jesus Christ our Saviour.”
Theophile, The Democratic Republic of the Congo:
“It was great for us to be with you in Goma /DRC for a week. We have been blessed by learning the book of 1 Peter and church leadership. May God bless you.”
Isaiah, from South Sudan:
“Dear Doctor Tim: I want to appreciate you for the teaching that you have taught me in the class. You really opened up my mind in the Bible. Your teaching has made me to understand that I have been called to the ministry of God. Before I was not having enough knowledge about the Bible, but now you have made me know about it. So may God bless you and give you more knowledge and understanding and wisdom of his ministry so that you may continue teaching his people elsewhere. I wish. . . that you may come to Sudan by the will of God so that we may also learn from you more about the Bible. Because Sudan is thirsty for God’s Word. So when you go back to your home/country, you may also put me in your prayers and remind your church to pray for me that I may get further study in the Bible and teach the people of Sudan . . . Thank you.”
Pastor Brino, Malawi
“ I have received good feedback on the sessions you delivered ~ ‘The training has been so helpful to me. I appreciate it so much’ ~ We want you to come back.”
January and August 2023: Philippines
During the time in St. Andrew’s, Dr. Tim was able to fulfill a couple of ministry opportunities across the South China Sea. In January, Dr. Tim returned to the Presbyterian Theological College in Cavite, teaching again the Doctrine of Salvation for the D. Min. program. Then, in August he returned to the Student Missionary Outreach HQ, Bacolod City, Negros Island, for their anniversary meetings, addressing the staff and students on the them of standing for the faith (Ephesians 6).
June 2022 to September 2023 Malaysia
Dr. Tim was called to serve the congregation of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kuala Lumpur, as senior pastor. He accepted the call with a view to strengthening the faith, understanding, and witness of the congregation. During that time, the Word of God was expounded, the church leaders taught, souls were converted, ministries were started, and the people pastored. Brenda also served as a healthy influence among the sisters of the congregation. Furthermore, Dr. Tim served as interim minister of the Melacca English-speaking congregation of the Presbyterian Church in Malaysia.
July to October 2021 Malaysia
Although the ministry abroad was severely disrupted by COVID, Dr. Tim was able to serve St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, for three months as interim pastor, although with limited access to the church family.
February 2020: The Democratic Republic of the Congo.
At the invitation of Pastor Steve Migisha Mushenga (fourth from the right) of the Kivu Presbyterian Church, From His Fullness Ministries trained for a week pastors, pastors’ wives, and church workers through the exposition 1 Peter, addressing issues such as calling and suffering. The need was underlined during the week by two attempted kidnappings and subsequent killings of a young and a middle-aged man known to the attendees. Pray for The DRC and for the growth of the Kivu Presbyterian Church! God has burdened pastors Steve and Cleophace with the desire to develop Reformed denominations.
December 2019: Malawi
The days in Lilongwe, Malawi were the final leg of a three-country tour of East Africa, courtesy of Tim Paul Matandika, involving three days of teaching to an interdenominational group of pastors, followed by preaching at the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian and for the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Churches. The trip has given rise to an informal partnership with Word and Deed (North America) who are active in Malawi.
November 2019: Tanzania
At the request of Pastor Cleophace Kataya of the Reformed Church of Tanzania and Pastor Joshua Lusato of the Africa Inland Church, From His Fullness was present in the city of Mwanza on Lake Victoria for preaching and to teach on such subjects as African church history, the principles of the Reformation, and church leadership. One fruit of the visit is the offer of Swahili translations of the teaching materials. Please pray that we may be able to get to our brothers and sisters there sound and accessible materials, and for openings for the distribution.
November 2019: Ethiopia
The first stop on a three-country tour of East Africa: the Evangelical Theological College of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa. At the invitation of the principal, Dr. Frew Tamrat, Dr. Tim lectured to pastors and students on The Fatherhood of God (four lectures, day 1) and on eldership (three lectures and a Q&A, day 2).
October 2019: Pakistan
The two-week visit to Pakistan included Bible teaching in Christian communities in two cities (spiritual maturity [three addresses] and eschatology [a week of teaching]), plus ministry to Christian school teachers, and medical personnel. We thank God for the way he has developed and preserved his people and his witness in Pakistan.
May 2019: Philippines
The first leg of ministry took place on Negros Island. There the Trumpers contributed to the National Workers’ and Students’ Conference of the Student Missionary Outreach. Dr. Tim gave four addresses on the subject of faith and both he and Brenda gave seminars on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, respectively. Following the conference, Dr. Tim preached twice in Bacolod City. Our warm thanks to Nenito del Mundo, Frederick Repollo and the SMO team for the warm hospitality. Next, Dr. Tim preached in Manilla and taught for a week on the Doctrine of Salvation at the Presbyterian Theological Seminary and Center for Advanced Studies. Front left of the main table, outgoing president, Dr. Lawrence Gatawa.
March 2019: Liberia
The ministry in West Africa entailed two conferences in the capital, expounding 1 Peter and Ephesians respectively. Following two civil wars in recent decades, the country is in need of much prayer. The wars led to an exodus of missionaries, resulting, it seems, in isolation from solid teaching and coordinated church life (no two churches appearing to belong together). Incoming contractors report great apathy. Officially a secular state, Liberia has great Christian influence, but knowledge of the Word needs to go deeper to transform Liberian society and to preserve her Christian heritage.
October 2018: Bolivia
The ministry in Cochabamba, Bolivia, was a double header, in the sense that it entailed both the Gracia Y Verdad Conferencia and the teaching of a course for the Seminario Reformado LatinoAmericano; but also in the sense that both the Trumpers were present to minister at the conference, speaking on such subjects as expository preaching and zeal for evangelism and women’s ministry respectively.
Dr. Tim then taught for the seminary in partnership with International Theological Education Ministries a course on Eschatology.
With over 500 at the conference and 35 or so in the course, accompanied by much hunger for the Word of God, we treasure the memories of From His Fullness’ first ministry in South America.
September 2018: Kenya
It was a joy to serve the needs of the Middle East Reformed Fellowship (MERF) by teaching for three weeks at the Lokichoggio compound in the Kenyan dessert. Each week a separate course was taught, in turn African Church History, Doctrinal Survey, and Pastoral Theology. One special memory from the visit was the response to the preaching on the Lord’s Day, in which Akitela, a local lady of the Turkana tribe, on hearing of Joshua’s call (Joshua 24) to forsake idolatry in order to serve the Lord God , asked for prayer to forsake the witch doctor for the Lord.
Another special memory was of hearing the heartfelt stories of the young men in the class who had fled war-torn South Sudan, taking up residence at the refugee camp at Kakuma in northern Kenya and who, under God’s good providence and his blessing on the work of MERF, are able to get some vital training under the Word.
April 2018: Turkey
On successive trips to Antalya, partnering with host Via Christus ministries, From His Fullness Ministries has taught successive disciplines of theology to a hand-picked group of leaders: biblical theology and systematic theology. How we pray that God would do a work in Turkey as was accomplished during the early centuries of the new covenant era.
